The Chronicles of Narnia” join “the Lord of the Rings”

FELLOWSHIP WEEKEND AT MILLER PARK

JUNE 6, 7, 8, 2008

The world has changed.

I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.

For the time will soon come when these scouts will shape the fortunes of all.

If the professor was right it was only the beginning of the adventures...

During Fellowship Weekend your group will be able to participate in programs. Program time is on Saturday, June 7, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Groups that participate in the service projects in the morning on Saturday may participate in the programs in the afternoon.

Again this year, program is slightly different from past years. Everyone will join together, at 1:00 p.m., in the Council Ring for the first program session, “Lord of the Wings”, presented by Hawk Creek. This engaging show features six live raptors. Experience tales of the ancient art of falconry and the role these great birds played in medieval times.

After the “Lord of the Wings” your group will be able to participate in 3 more programs of your choice. Choose the three programs that you think your entire group will be most interested in. We will try to arrange for your group to do as many of the programs you choose as possible. Everyone should get their first choice, and probably their second choice…after that who knows, it will depend on how popular each program is. You cannot split your unit. Everyone has to do the same activities together.

One of the 5 program periods will be an unassigned free time. Do not crash in to other programs. Members of the North Tonawanda Police Department will be under the tent sharing information regarding drug abuse resistance.

PROGRAM CHOICES:

Battle Games – Join the Narnia Dagorhir Battle Games Group, a unit of the Tartarus Invuctus, as they reenact battle games from the Middle Ages. You may watch the games, or, if you have a “brave heart” you may have your parents sign the attached release form, and participate in the battles.

Blacksmithin’ – Visit our blacksmiths as they fashion a piece of red hot steel into a useful tool, just like they did in the old days.

Tin Smithin’ – Those shiny lanterns weren’t “Made In China” back then. Skilled, passionate, craftsman created them. Find out what it takes as you pound a design into a piece of tin.

Archery – Mark, from Docs Archery, will show you the fine points of shooting, discuss safety, and then let you try to hit our targets.

Live Reptiles and Amphibians – Members of the WNY Herpetological Society will be out to share information about their various dragons, serpents and other creatures.

Fishing – Catch the big one…. You can bring your own rod-n-reel or use one of ours. Bait will be provided, along with prizes for the most, and biggest fish caught.

Soldiers from the Past – Members of the 914th NY Dismounted Cavalry Company B will talk about their life as a soldier, and then allow you one shot of a black powder gun.

Iron Horse Bike Rally – This is a skill course, not a race. Bring your own bikes & ride a course through a trail in the woods. Helmets are required. Gift cards will be given to participants. We can secure your bikes in a cabin as early as Thursday night.

CANAL FEST 2008
